Through Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium, the Holy Spirit of God has safeguarded these truths
God created man and woman in His own image and likeness, because He wants to be our Father. Therefore, God breathed into Adam and Eve the breath of life (Holy Spirit) in order to share with them His own Divine Nature and adopt them as Children of God.
Adam and Eve were tested in the garden with a test of life-giving love. They chose not to give their life for the sake of love, and lost their share in the Divine Life God gave them through the Holy Spirit. Sin de-humanized Adam and Eve and they lost the likeness of God they were originally created with.
Since then, humanity has been awaiting a Savior to restore peace between God and mankind; to destroy sin and death, and restore humanity to the likeness of God they were originally created with.
God never abandoned His children, but continued to make covenants with them throughout the ages, drawing them into His family life, punishing them when they sin, blessing them when they obeyed. When the fullness of time had come, God sent this Son into the world.
God so loved the world that he sent His only son, so that whoever would believe in Him, and live their life for Him, would not perish, but would inherit eternal life with God.

The Son of God became a Son of Man, so that the sons and daughters of men might become the sons and daughters of God.
Jesus was crucified and died for our sins, to ransom us from slavery to sin and death, and free us to live again as beloved children of God. Jesus was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven to prepare a place for us. This was proof to His disciples that Jesus' Way of Life is the Way to Eternal Life with God.

Before ascending to heaven, Jesus appointed leaders of his disciples (the apostles) and empowered them with the Holy Spirit to continue His ministry of reconciliation through preaching, teaching, sanctifying, and making disciples along the Way to Eternal Life with God. Above all, the Sacraments Jesus empowered his apostles with, unite us with Jesus and restore the likeness to God that we lost through sin. As disciples of Jesus, we no longer live our own life, now we live the life of Jesus with our life.
